The seashell cake for my granddaughters boyfriends mom...

This is the finished cake. I'm not too happy with the 'ombre' finish plus I've never been too good working with frosting, but I just covered up the imperfections with the shells :) I hope she likes it.

Seashells for Eileens boyfriends mothers cake :D...

My granddaughter has had a little "boyfriend" for a while now, well, as long as she keeps up her grades, all's well. The boys mother is a beautician and so she bought the Brazilian products  and gave Eileen the relaxer. Eileen was jumping for joy!  So she asked me if I could please make a cake for the woman whose birthday is Sunday. Well of course I said yes! Not that I wanted too, cos my back can't take the hassle but...I'll deal with the pain and then collapse and flake out after it's all done.

She wanted it sea themed and decorated with shells, and showed me a couple of pics from the net. So today all day I've been making shells. Some of them were made with a Wilton silicone mold but those were too flat and the starfish just look like flat stars, so I molded the rest by hand. The cake will be in shades of blue, in what is called 'ombre' from darkest at the bottom to lightest at the top, I've never done that before so I've been watching videos to get an idea, the shells will just be painted with pearl dust...anyway I just finished cleaning up the mess, and tomorrow I'll make the frosting and the board. I just took Advil for the painnnn! And now shower and bed, cause I have work to do tomorrow, and day after, and day  after... :)

My grandson, regional champs...

This is my grandson, he's been a straight A student all of his life, he plays volleyball and the team won the regional championship, he also coaches his little half sisters team.  He's now a senior in high school and has been filling out the paperwork to enter college, has two part time jobs, one in the office of an old folks home, and one with a food truck, where he washes everything down and fills the condiment bottles and a host of other things after the owner ends his day, all the time doing his school work with great grades. He also does his own laundry and often comes down and cuts the grass for us! Now he has a girlfriend and they're having fun.

Southern Electric Power companies here...

So, credit where credit is due, in all fairness I must say that one very important thing that FEMA did as soon as it got here, was give the major hospitals huge generators that ran the entire hospital which was a huge Godsend.

Along with the Autoridad De Energia Electrical (Puertorican power company), we also have here doing a great deal of the work, the Southern Electric Power Companies from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, etc. My granddaughter lives high on a mountain and she tells me that thank God "the gringos" :) restored power there exactly one day before Three Kings, January 6th, so they've had power and water since then. The people here are very thankful and hospitable and so they offer bottled water, coffee, food etc., anything just put those poles and wires up guys!!!  xD

Helicopters have been used to put the poles in place in some of the out of the way areas, mountains etc.  I must say they are doing a great job, it isn't easy!

They've gotten along great with the locals as this is country and they're all good ole country boys. As I say, country is country in any part of the world...

So I fell again...

Wow, I'm just grateful I didn't break anything important but I think I have a fracture in situ, not displaced, in my wrist, either ...
