Boy or girl? Girl or boy? Pink or blue? Blue or pink?

Well my daughter had a 2D sonogram done today and it clearly showed that the baby is a boy! He seems to be healthy and quite active thank God.  So now she can buy jammies, clothes and crib bedding and such in boy designs and colors for her son. I'm so happy she's starting a family, I've always talked to her about it and although there was a time when she had the foolish idea in her head that she didn't want children, I was always steadfast against that idea! Imagine??? So when she became pregnant I was actually quite relieved, because she can be stubborn sometimes. The dad is still studying and so will prolly come to live here with her.

Ezekiels sonogram and shlong. the technician writes 'soy nene' which means I'm a boy.
I ordered the embroidery machine from Walmart and it arrived yesterday. I still haven't been able to read the manual or try it out because I've been so busy baking cakes for my daughter to give as gifts to the two secretary's in her office, as it is their week in the hospital, but the oven seems to be broken, the fire fluctuates unevenly and cakes do not take well to that. I made two yesterday that I had to throw away, and tried again today and made another two that also failed to cook and rise properly and were gummy and no good. I had already made the gum paste flowers to decorate them and so I felt bad about it. We had to go out and get two store bought Charlotte Russe, which is a kind of sponge cake with cream and custard layered with fresh sliced strawberry's, kiwis, and peach slices with lady fingers placed all around the circumference of the cake, most everyone likes it and at least we found exactly the two she needed.

Anyway, so I guess tomorrow I'll start checking out the machine...and soon maybe blog about a couple of other things...

Sayonara, chiao, hasta luego, buona notte, see you later alligator :)

Dear diary...A Life Transitions...and A Life Soon To Be Here

So much has been happening, but especially sad is my grand children's grandfather, their mother's father, passed away this week.

It was quite sudden, he seemed to be alright. He has worked in construction all of his life, did a lot of exercise and was thin and fit without any cardiac or metabolic problems, except for the fact that he always drank a lot and had I believe some cirrhosis of the liver which he was managing well. But he suddenly developed a GI bleed, was rushed to hospital and despite transfusions and everything else, he fell into a coma and a few days later he died.

His hobby and passion was raising fighting roosters and he gave all of his grandsons, he had four grandsons, three were his son's children and one was his daughter's, which is my grandson, they all had roosters which he gave them. This was a rooster that was his favorite in particular, and they, the grands and him were planning to fight it soon...This is the rooster:
Don Carlos Rooster, he will be retired now and only used as a sperm donor or 'padrote' as it's called

He was a simple man, a man of the earth as they say. He cared for his children and grands the best he could and loved the heck outta them and they loved him back! As you know my grandson works at his girlfriends dads funeral they made the memorial card together, and they're letting him fix everything up to his liking, including the video and such. His nickname was 'Carlos Bandera', bandera means flag, but I must ask my grandson why he was called that as I do not know.

He was young once, and always the fight cocks:
Don Carlos As a younger man with his roosters.
I
I was hoping against hope he'd pull out of this one but I guess the universe had other plans.  We had a wreath made up, I asked them to put something allusive to cockfighting and they found a little rooster figure so I asked them to put it on the bow. My grands loved it. No one else had thought to do something about his passion, so I'm glad they liked it. Now my grandson said he's going to get another little rooster to put in his hands.  I think it's overkill no pun intended, but I said to him it was a wonderful idea.
It's a simple wreath

See the little rooster
Anyway, so my daughter's entering her fifth month but we still don't know what it is, perhaps for the next sonogram...I've been making burp cloths and bibs for both boy and girl, and we'll just give the ones that aren't as gifts for baby showers. I'll show them in the next post.

Oh, and sheesh, this island is beginning to get as it was when I first came here! The stores are kinda empty, you gotta send away for most everything! So I couldn't find appliques for the burp cloths, I mean the pickings are real slim, so I thought  of getting an embroidery machine and embroidering them myself. Finally after much research I decided on the Brother PE 535 which for my price range seems to be the best. Well NO ONE has it here!!! and Walmart does not deliver to any of their stores, only to the home (maybe), and an arm and a leg between shipping and tax! Amazon doesn't deliver it here.

So frustrated! That's the one I want!!!

Oy Vey!

So I fell again...

Wow, I'm just grateful I didn't break anything important but I think I have a fracture in situ, not displaced, in my wrist, either ...
