A Facebook video made by a lovely gentleman who is a prime example of the intelligent, compassionate and wise police officers we have here, one who does a demanding, complicated and dangerous job wisely and kindly but firmly as is needed.
They are law enforcers yes, but in their function as policemen they are also educators, psychologists, also offering compassionate support as the occasion deems. This gentleman is a prime example of all of that. and while I do not know him personally this is made apparent by his words and mode of expression. The video is in Spanish, but he makes such a wonderful case for the police officers plight here in Puerto Rico, and it is a sorry one, that I just had to air it and share for all to see.
The Police agency does not pay social security for any police officers, and their pension has been cut in half, and now they also have to work many more years in order to retire.
Which means upon retirement they will live in poverty!
