Mallorca Rolls...Update: Done

I'm stuck inside the house, can't go out because of the damn dust, so I was gonna crochet, but, thought I'd try something I've been wanting to try for a while now ;) Bread making...

I chose a Mallorca rolls recipe because it seemed  fairly easy, soft and on the sweet side, we'll see. I will update as soon as they come out of the oven and I taste them, then I'll be honest...yay or nay...

DONE: TURNED OUT DELISH!  Soft, fluffy, slightly sweet, perfect! Will be making them often!

B-O-R-E-D S-T-I-F-F-

I mean really! This shit is unreal! Another huge Saharan dust cloud coming in! WTF! This is like imposed rest! I'm too rested, my mind starts wandering...and it goes places...xD

It's at times like this that...actually I'm hoping for a frickin storm, so it can blow the dust away, it's not really dust, it's a fine, fine sand, that feels like talc on the hands, that's what makes it so dangerous for the respiratory tract...

Oh well, guess I'll have to take out my crochet...Dayum, I have a hat I started a hundred years ago... But I really don't care to crochet...ah sheeet! FUQ!!!! I want to go out, to do my gardening and stuff :(

When God when??? It's not fair...but then again life is never fair is it?

So I'm over here...

Perusing the blogs and just trying to keep myself entertained, but I'm bored and even a bit depressed.

But anyhooo, to pass the time since I recently got some paint booklets for cement floors, I want to paint the cement floor of the carport. There's a lot of color choices but I think I'm going with a terracotta color cause it'll match the floor tiles of the inside. Not sure...

This terracotta color I like

I love these colorful paint chip booklets...

Prisoner of...no not love lol...of the frickin Saharan dust!!!

We had another incursion of dust, a biggy, it's going to stay all week, and then there's another one coming in on the weekend so...FML! No really! Sheeeeeeeettttt! x(

Me mad now!

I wanted to switch the patio table and chairs that I have in the balcony and put them under the canopy in the backyard to make a cozy area where I can sit and drink coffee and look at the plants, (the ones I have yet to plant xD) and put a couple of chairs and table I have in storage in the balcony. But I can't go out, the house is locked up and the crap still comes in, cause its a very fine dust, almost like talcum powder, and it's vicious bad.

Oh well, I can only find ways to entertain myself inside, and hope and pray for it to blow away...somehow...

Can't even hardly make out the island...

Happy Shabbos!

Finally I feel rested! I was feeling so tired! Must have something to do with that Summer Solstice longest day of the year thingy.

So, today I want to observe and keep Shabbos, God is good! God is All.

Hashem, Hashem, Thou art my light and my keeper. Cover me with your love! I am blessed in so many ways. I am grateful, I am thankful to be allowed to abide in Your Holy Spirit and I am one with those who abide there too. Amen, Amen.

Whatever religion, whatever the name, God is One, the Holy Spirit is all encompassing and infuses us all. Happy and blessed day! Much, much love...

Chocolate Cake...

I ran out of confectioners sugar for the frosting, I thought I'd bought a new bag but nah. So I made a sort of glaze...I'll just go to the supermarket tomorrow and get some and make more frosting and add it to the sides.

I made it in my trusty Bundt (tube) pan so it has a hole in the middle :) because  (usually) when I bake cakes for the family I use my tube pans 'cause they are absolutely fool proof and fast because the tube serves as a heating element.

Going to bed, very tired...Ta tah!

Cake time again!!!! Chocolate yaaay!

Third time I came to P.R. on vacation

in my 20's  with a little cousin, the son of an uncle from my grandfathers 2nd marriage. That was my grandpas house in Cidra, waaay, and I mean waaaayyyy up in the mountains, where the Spanish Arabs liked to settle ;) his second wife died of ovarian cancer, so maaany years later he took a third wife and at the age of 76 and she 40 they had a little girl, who is my aunt also :D

He died at 96, farmed all of his life, almost up until he passed. This is my cousin from my grandfathers first children from his first wife my grandmother, so he's my full blooded cousin. He looks almost exactly like my grandfather. He was an agricultural engineer and raised Paso Fino horses. He has had a coronary bypass, and a stent.

His passion, the horses Paso Fino he breeds and trains.

He tools leather as a hobby, makes his horses decorations

All he needs is the Keffiyeh :D

I think I'll bake a chocolate cake...in honor of all the mixed genetics we have here on the island!

What a lame excuse to eat cake right xD...

Oh and I put on 2 masks and potted up the herbs! Finally!!! Hoping tomorrow is good so I can begin to tackle the rest...and so far nobodies showed up to help me!!!   x(  me mad...hmmmmmm ;)

Okay so here's my messy yard...

My grandson true to his word, God Bless him, came down on Saturday early and got to work. I told him the mower needed a part so he'd either have to use the trimmer or come another day. Well he said nah lemme see it, he inspected it, asked for a piece of wire, which I have plenty from the hanging orchid baskets, and a pliers and wire cutter, and would you believe he got it running???!!! OMG! He proceeded and lemme tell you that freakin grass was like 7 inches tall! Or more!

Anyway, he mowed front and back, but for the edges the heavy duty trimmer konked out and he couldn't finish the edges, but I can do that myself with a battery operated trimmer we have, it's pretty light.

It's still a mess in the sense that plants have to be placed in the ground,  others transplanted to bigger planters, they're overgrown...and just general arranging of everything...*sigh*

Only problem is that we've had the fuqin, nasty Saharan Dust up until today too! I'm hoping it'll be clearing up for tomorrow cos sheeet...I need to get out there fast, it kills me to see it like that, just mortifys me!

Here's a few of my orchids and a couple of plants...
Cattleyas that bloomed last week
Staghorn Ferns and Vanda need to be moved, as the earth gets closer to the sun in the summer, that is too much sun for them and they're already starting to burn at the leaf tips as you can see...

Some of the herbs, drying up...heeellppp!
One of the corners...Palm has to be put in the earth, Kalanchoe medicinal anti-cancer plants.
Those iron table legs don't go there, just holding down the wood panel to even out the terrain there. That terracotta panel either, the Aloe Veras go in the ground etc., etc.,etc.
Another corner with an ugly palm that was here when we got the house, me no like, and that canopy my son bought to shield the shed with the solar batteries from too much direct sun. See the water mark on the ladder, the grass was higher than that! And a pot full of Snake plants that I'm planning to put in the ground somewhere, and my little lemon tree that stays right there...

Just you watch, I'll get out there at some point, hopefully this week, and I'ma make it beautiful, I have plans for under that canopy too...;) So as you can see I have my work cut out for me as soon as I can get outside, not to mention the side of the house....I'll of course post pics, gonna take a nap now, got to bed around 3 am , bad girl! xD

Who wants to come and help meeee? Lunch, (whatever you want) water, fresh squeezed lemonade, Coka Cola, Beer, wine, and other libations are on me! And a hat against the blazing sun, plus my scintillating company, and you get a great big hug at the end ;).....that's it though just a hug...don't be thinking you're gonna throw me down on the grass and have your way...uhuh Nooooo,no,no,no......weeeelllll...maybe   xD

Ta taaaah!

Weeeee! But there's a green little monster lurking...hehehehe

Love is in the air!...But I gotta be honest...
My daughter doesn't care too much for this relationship! (shhhhh)  I don't fully know, or am not sure of the why.  I don't know her that well, we've only been out with her to dinner twice, but...

My daughter, who is very protective of her nephew and niece, told me when she first came over, " she looks like one of those little have it all girls"  (the kind she didn't like at school because my daughter didn't 'have it all' and there's always those type girls, you know the ones)...She added "she better not break his heart".

Now, I have reservations about that judgement call, she seems like a sweet girl to me, but...

I've seen the interaction between them, well on my daughters part anyway, like the last time we were at Chili's, my daughter asked her (a tad bit icily) "so what exactly are you studying?" and she answered "physical therapy, but I want to start my own business eventually. "

I know my daughter and I could feel her bristling, no love lost there unfortunately. But I think I know why, I think it's just good old fashioned jealousy, envy. and I'll tell you why...

This young woman is the daughter of one of the oldest families of the town. (The town where I used to live in the fishing village). Her grandfather was the owner of what was once this small towns only funeral parlor. Actually only recently did another funeral home set up business there so now there's the grand sum of two. This mans son, who has now inherited the funeral home, is the girls father. So yes she comes from a fairly well to do family, as well as being one highly respected and loved by the town. But, she's really down to earth, so I'm just wishing them blessings and all the best in the world, and hey listen, nothing is forever, nothing is written in stone as they say, (except  death and taxes xD) for however long or short it lasts, they're very young, actually she's one year older than my grandson, she's in university already. They're enjoying themselves and whatever will be, will be... but my daughter, she's just waiting for the shoe to drop so she can say "see, I told you she was just playing with him, little rish bish!!!"

Me, I say  "so beotch what's so wrong with playing?" ...not to her of course...'cos you know...x*D

Ahhh, la vie, la vie...

Catts open today, God is Good...

Blessings all!  These opened today. Can't remember the name, and lost the tag...Loveee!

My two grandchildren on their way to prom!

He chose not to hem up the pants because he says since they're tight he didn't want them riding up around his ankles when he sat, makes sense xD

That dress is borrowed from her cousins wife, she didn't want to buy for this occasion, but she has to start shopping already for her prom which God willing is next year. Can't wait to see his girlfriends dress.  Hope they have the time of their lives!

Exciting!

Happy Birthday Eileen!

Eileen front row second from right
The entire bottle of sprinkles! Nothing less would do! What a kid! xD
14, at her brother's 9th grade prom

Today is my Eileen's birthday! 17 years old!  How time flies! It seems like yesterday that I was racing home from work in order to get to the hospital before visiting hours were over.

She was so red! and I knew she would be dark, because dark babies are usually born quite red. So cute, cute as a button! But what a handful! Lawdy momma! As a toddler it seemed as though she was everywhere at the same time!

When we found out she would be a girl, I bought a bunch of pink gingham material and made her the crib set.  I made the bumper, a fitted sheet, a top sheet, a comforter, a dust ruffle, a little decorative pillow, and even a little doll with the left over material.

So when her mom bought her home and put her inside the crib, all that pink with her redness, she looked like she was on fire! Lolol! She really looked red then! xD

Gotta enjoy them while they're young, because they grow so fast...as y'all can see

She's also going to her brothers prom tonight, so she's going to celebrate there. My grandson will be  wearing 'the Chinese suit' xD ('member?) and he got brown wingtip shoes to go with it, and a pinky-peachy, I guess it's coral bow tie to match his girlfriend dress. Can't wait to see the pics! and I will post them.

The air is chock full of Saharan dust, they're saying that the air quality is the worst its been in a long time! :(  so I of course am holed up here, just went to the kitchen to cook, made white rice, stewed pink beans, (I use dry not canned, I soaked and softened them last night),  and braised stewed meat, beef, with potatoes in it, and I'll make a salad of what ever I find in the fridge, I know I saw a tomato in there :)

So I'm praying all goes well, I worry 'cos there's been so many traffic accidents in this area of late...God please watch over them, please, Amen.

Latah!

The magical night...

Wow, the night is so beautiful! The entire day has been that way, kinda one of those magical days...where the air is sort of...different...but the night feels so soft and warm, a gentle breeze. the coqui frogs are chirping away, and love seems to surround and fill the air...isn't life wonderful? So thankful, so very thankful...

Cake done!!!

I gotta say...YUMMMMMMMY! Delish! The frosting came out perfect tooo!
C'mon and celebrate! Oh yeah!

Cake time!!! My way...

From a mix this time, but gussied up ;) I use 4 eggs instead of three, heavy cream instead of water, butter instead of oil, vanilla, a bit more cocoa powder and an instant pudding mix. Then I'll make cream cheese frosting, update to follow...

:( I could cry...and maybe I will...

Oh God I have so much gardening to do! I could cry! I still haven't even transplanted those herbs I bought to bigger pots, I'm sorta keeping them alive barely. And we have another incursion of Saharan dust! So I can't go out there! Sheeesh!!! Maaaan!

The mower is broken, gotta buy the handle thing, but I think we're gonna need a new one anyway, that one is old and the dog pulled the cover off and it got rained on so prolly it needs new sparks and whatever too...if I had a mower that didn't require that string pulling I'd do it myself cos it's a small yard, I just can't start the mower!

and you can't find lawn help, nobody wants to mow unless you pay them an arm and a leg! My grandson will do it but after he's done with taking documents to the university and the prom and everything. But it's rained so much that grass in the backyard is almost knee high...drives me nuts!

We have a guy who's actually a paramedic with the government system and as a sideline he does the small front yards in the sub-divisions, but only those.

Lord that backyard I need helpppp!

I bought a wig y'all!!!

This is from the Wish company, they are the bomb! I am an official Wish addict now! Cheap and great stuff! So I bought a wig cause although the chemo treatments didn't make me lose all my hair, but I have noticed a few little areas in the back, nothing major, but since I wear my hair short, that are kind of, I dunno, not as full as before. So my neighbor wears wigs all the time, I never thought of it , but I saw one, and on a lark I ordered it!

I expected a really cheaply made one for the price $12, but it's quite well made, lace cap, lots of hair,  fits me perfect as I have a sort of biggish head, kinda xD. Luuvvv!

P.S Don't look at the crazy room...xD

So I fell again...

Wow, I'm just grateful I didn't break anything important but I think I have a fracture in situ, not displaced, in my wrist, either ...
